A 21st century town for all
We have been named as part of the team supporting the preferred development partner Muse for the regeneration of the Mell Square shopping centre in Solihull.
Our designs will transform the area into a mixed-use neighbourhood, improving Solihull’s existing offer as well as diversifying the nighttime economy and most importantly delivering new homes for the town centre.
Led by Director Robert King, the Mell Square redevelopment creates a new blueprint for a sustainable town centre regeneration, that blends the retrofit of existing buildings with the creation of new residential homes for a diverse demographic.
He explained: “The town centre is renowned for its shopping and independent businesses, and it is exciting to be adding new homes, increased social amenities, leisure, culture and workspace to this mix. By sympathetically creating new residential buildings, alongside the refurbishment and repurposing of existing buildings our masterplan will re-energise Solihull around a flexible public realm to create a 21st century town centre for all.”
“The masterplan has evolved through dialogue with Council and features a diverse, characterful residential neighbourhood, a vibrant publicrealm and a cultural live, work and play quarter. Through working closely with Muse, we’re delighted to have been named the successful team to bring this redevelopment forward for Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.”
Alongside Muse, the successful bid brought together a multi-disciplinary team including planning consultants Turley and landscape designers Planit.
