Eastside Curzon Masterplan

The arrival of the HS2 fast rail link to Birmingham and the north presents unparalleled regeneration opportunities for Britain’s second city. We worked with Birmingham City Council to prepare an iterative masterplan for the city’s Eastside that would be responsive to these fast-changing circumstances.

Leading a multi-disciplinary team of sub-consultants, we delivered a vision that set out an agenda for short, medium and long-term developments in Eastside. Our plan addressed the scale and massing of possible future development and its relationship to important existing heritage assets. We also ensured that the new infrastructure would not sever connections within the city but instead made sure that it would reinforce and support them.

For Digbeth, we considered how the area would connect with the wider Eastside area beneath the station and to a city core set to expand by some 25% under Birmingham City Council’s Big City Plan.
