Eco Park Stadium
Forest Green Rovers are England’s first vegan football club. Known for its green agenda, the club requires all contracted players to follow a vegan lifestyle and does not serve meat on match days. The club’s owners Ecotricity, the UK’s leading sustainable energy provider, organised an international competition to design a new green stadium for the team. The brief required a capacity of 5,000, with the ability to increase to 10,000 dependent on the club’s performance.
Despite not having previous football stadia design experience, we were one of two finalists from the initial pool of over 50 entries. During the design phase, we developed a detailed understanding of the elements of stadia design, working alongside leading sports industry consultants Buro Happold. Our proposal was a sustainable and visually striking stadium, befitting the client’s ambitions for it as a national landmark.
