Octagon

The Octagon is the first pure octagonal high-rise residential building in the world.

Making the most of its location on the Birmingham ridge and at the northern gateway of Paradise, the tower will house 370 spacious city centre homes with uninterrupted views across the city. Taller than the city’s BT Tower, the unique 49-storey, 155-metre build-to-rent scheme will be a landmark, instantly recognisable from across the city.

Our design will offer homes of individuality, with each apartment enjoying a generous 13-metre facet of the Octagon and a much larger than average outlook, bringing ample daylight into the ‘radial’ arrangement of the internal spaces. It will incorporate a number of affordable homes for rent as part of an overall mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

From a build perspective, the octagonal form has many holistic benefits, including a lower wall-to-floor ratio, a central core to provide structural stability and a shorter distribution of services, all of which contribute to a ‘less is more’ approach.
